Fanomenon Sets 2027 Seoul Debut and 2028 Los Angeles Expansion

South Korea’s four largest K-pop agencies are backing an 11-day Fanomenon awards and cultural program in 2027, followed by an overseas festival in Los Angeles in 2028. The plan targets 520,000 visitors but still lacks a lineup and final ticket details.

Four rivals build one stage

South Korea’s four biggest K-pop agencies are joining a government-backed effort built around an 11-day run of concerts, awards and cultural exhibitions. HYBE, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment and YG Entertainment will spearhead the project through a planned joint venture, with the first events scheduled for December 2–12, 2027, in Seoul and nearby Goyang.koreajoongangdaily +1

The unusual alliance brings together companies whose rosters include BTS, Blackpink, Stray Kids, Twice, aespa and Seventeen. Organizers say acts from outside the four agencies will also receive exposure, an important pledge for a venture that concentrates much of K-pop’s commercial power under one banner.forbes +1

Fans become the award winners

The Korean launch will combine performances at the under-construction Seoul Arena in Chang-dong with a parallel program at the Kintex convention center. Kintex is expected to host music stages, fan meetings, screenings, esports tournaments and business forums, as well as exhibits spanning food, beauty, fashion, games and other Korean cultural exports.sbs +1

Instead of giving its main prizes directly to performers, the ceremony plans to recognize 10 fan communities, with artists accepting trophies on their behalf. JYP founder Park Jin-young said the winners would be selected through a data-based metric rather than a public vote; the top fandom would receive the trademarked “Fandemonium” title.koreadaily +1

The Korea Culture and Tourism Institute projects 520,000 visitors across the domestic program, including 200,000 from overseas, and an economic impact of about 1 trillion won, or roughly $680 million.koreajoongangdaily +1 Those figures remain forecasts for an event more than a year away, while ticket prices, participating artists and some operational details have not been finalized.sbs

The ambition extends beyond Korea

The plan separates the annual Korean awards event from a touring international festival. Los Angeles is slated to host the first overseas edition in May 2028, and the government also wants K-culture centers in major cities, pairing performance venues with exhibition and commercial space.koreatimes +1

Public support will focus on tourism promotion, immigration procedures and safety, while ticket sales and sponsorships are intended to make the shows financially sustainable.yna The immediate test is whether competitors can produce a genuinely broad festival rather than an oversized label showcase. No lineup has been announced, and the promise to include smaller agencies will help determine whether the project expands K-pop’s global platform or mainly reinforces the industry’s established gatekeepers.forbes +1
